CBS 60 Minutes Correspondent Byron Pitts

CBS Chief National Correspondent and 60 Minutes contributor Byron Pitts spoke Monday, November 11, 2012 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater
in downton Bloomington, Indiana.

Pitts has won two national Emmy Awards for his coverage of a Chicago train wreck, as well his reporting on the events of September 11th. He has also won four
Associated Press awards and six regional Emmy Awards.

Pitts' most recent book Step Out on Nothing recounts his childhood struggle with a speech impediment, and all of the difficulties that brought him,
including a grade school diagnosis of “functional illiteracy.”

Byron Pitts drew from his own life as he talked to students, educators and the community at the Buskirk-Chumley Monday evening. His was the last of the
Speaker Series talks for the semester. 


Byron Pitts' visit was sponsored by the IU School of Journalism as part of the Fall 2012 Speaker Series.

Before Pitts spoke to students and members of the public at the Buskirk-Chumley theater, he attended a wine and cheese reception organized by
the Bloomington Press Club, all proceeds of which went to a scholarship fund.
